We choose enterprise operating systems, such as CentOS or Red Hat, for it's stability, compatibility testing, and its support and update lifecycle (approximately 7 years, versus 1.5-2 years for other Linux distributions), as staying up-to-date is cruicial with many security and bug issues arising every day. Enterprise operating systems have also been proven as a stable platform for hosting file and Internet services.
Touted as the Community Enterprise Operating System, CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor. CentOS conforms fully with the upstream vendors redistribution policy and aims to be 100% binary compatible.

Along with its award-winning open source Red Hat Linux OS, Red Hat offers a full line of services, including telephone support, on-site consulting, developer training, certification programs and priority access updates, making Red Hat a leading resource for knowledgeable, innovative, mission-critical open source solutions. We use Red Hat Enterprise Linux where specific applications require Red Hat for its support.
Gentoo Linux is a special flavor of Linux that can be automatically optimized and customized for just about any application or need. Extreme performance, configurability and a top-notch user and developer community are all hallmarks of the Gentoo experience. While this is not an enterprise-class operating system, we use Gentoo in custom applications requiring smaller than normal hardware requirements.
We use Microsoft Windows Server 2003 in environments requiring Windows for their applications, such as Peachtree and Quickbooks (server editions), Passport, and Exchange server. With Active Directory and advanced management services, Windows Server provides ease of network management while allowing you to better control the happenings of your network.
